“Don’t ever give up.
Don’t ever give in.
Don’t ever stop trying.
Don’t ever sell out.
And if you find yourself succumbing to one of the above for a brief moment,
pick yourself up, brush yourself off,
whisper a prayer,
and start where you left off.
But never, ever, ever give up.”
~ Richelle E. Goodrich
(noun) steadfastness in doing something despite difficulty or delay in achieving success.
The word for today.
It isn’t exactly the most inspiring word ever.
Makes me feel tired just thinking about that word.
But we DO get tired sometimes.
Tired of messes.
Tired of stresses.
Tired of “well doing” .
Or maybe just plain tired. 🙂
Take a few minutes.
Make yourself a steaming hot cup of tea, or take the time to steam some milk and make a beautiful latte.
Next, seek out a cookie.
Any cookie will do. Really! Eat a cookie. Just do it. You won’t be sorry! It’s for medicinal reasons !
And then sit (do not stand at the counter, or the table, or fold a load of towels!!!).
Take a deep breath.
Breathe. Deeply. Repeat.
Sip while it’s actually still hot. Don’t gulp in between math problems. Enjoy the warmth all the way down to your tummy.
< Ignore the noise, the kids jumping on the couch, the dryer buzzer, and all the dog hair dust bunnies that you now notice floating across the living room since you’re actually sitting down- close your eyes if you have to!! It will all be there still in 30 minutes. Unfortunate, but true.>
Remember to take the time (even in short bits) to be filled.
To remind yourself of what is good, what is true, what is lovely.
And fill your heart and mind with those things.
You will be surprised at the feeling of hope and new energy to keep going, I think.
“And let us not be weary in well doing:
for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.”
~ Galatians 6:9
