Psalm 31 – Daily Bread From the Psalms

Daily Bread:  Thoughts & Prayersfrom the Psalms

~ Psalm 31 ~

Good morning beautiful family!
What stuck out to you in Psalm 31 today?
Leave me a comment and lets talk about it!

The Family of God is so diverse, and it always amazes me how each unique piece fits together with the others.  Imagine designing a puzzle this large!  Don’t forget, I would LOVE to hear what YOU are seeing in the Psalms each day… I bet your piece and mine put together would make the meaning so much fuller!

Have you ever really wondered if God was GOOD?
I know that may sound like a dumb question.  Of course He’s good!  But the question wasn’t IF He was good (because of course He is!), but the question was, have you ever WONDERED ?!

I have.
It was a very hard time in my life, and much of what I believed about God was tested.  Do you know what I learned?  I learned that the Lord is faithful.  And He’s good.  He isn’t worried by our real, gritty, honest questions.  Yesterday in Psalm 30,  I talked about the difference between keeping a “quiet heart” and keeping a “silent heart”.   If you’re ever struggling with some hard parts of your relationship with God, keep TALKING to Him about your struggles to understand.  He loves that!  But nobody likes the silent treatment!!  Don’t give the Lord the silent treatment when you’re sinking, and angry, and confused.  It doesn’t help.  Ask me how I know!  😀

So in reading today’s Psalm, I wanted to shout verse 19 right out loud with David!!
Maybe this was the chorus.  It’s truth.
His goodness is GREAT… AND He has piles of that goodness STORED UP, just for us!
I could use some extra goodness of the Lord today, can’t you?!?

Psalm 31 the goodness of God

How GREAT
is the GOODNESS
of our GOD !

He is our
SHELTER and ROCK
FORTRESS and DELIVERER
LOVE and TRUTH
SAVIOR and REDEEMER

When I am in distress
and my life is consumed
with ANGUISH,
I will TRUST in you, God.

Your refuge is a high rock.
Your fortress is strong.
Your love is unfailing.
I am hidden in you.

You SAW my affliction
and you KNEW
the great suffering of my soul.

Let your face
SHINE on me.

Hide us in the shelter
of your PRESENCE.
You PRESERVE the faithful.

How GREAT
is the GOODNESS
which the LORD has
stored up
for us !
He has SHOWN
us His
WONDERFUL LOVE !
