Do what’s right. Speak truth. Be kind.
Simple words of wisdom to live by. As David prayed the words of this Psalm to the Lord, I picture him contemplating his own close communion with God. David’s words echo the cry of his heart to rest from the craziness and evil of the world around him (see his previous Psalms!), and find himself living in another reality- the green pastures of the Presence of God. He rehearses his commitment to live out the kindness of the Lord before man all the days of his life.
I pray we find ourselves with the same deep desire to dwell in the sanctuary of God, and to honor Him with our lives…even when it hurts!
LORD,
Who can dwell with you
in the Holy place ?
Who can live in your
presence ?
How merciful you
are to us
That we may come boldly
to Your throne !
Make our hearts pure as we come to you !
Help us to do what is
RIGHT.
Help us to speak from our hearts only
TRUTH.
To our neighbors and strangers alike,
we will speak KINDNESS.
We will show
HONOR
to all those who love You.
We will love
GOOD
and despise
EVIL.
Help us to be
HONEST
in all our business
And to keep our
WORD
even when it hurts.
LORD
We long to dwell with you in your sanctuary.
We lift up our hands to you !
With your help,
We will DO all of these things
and
We will not be shaken !
