Daily Bread:  Thoughts & Prayers from the Psalms

~ Psalm 25 ~

“Trust in and rely confidently on the Lord with all your heart
And do not rely on your own insight or understanding.
In all your ways know and acknowledge and recognize Him,
And He will make your paths straight and smooth [removing obstacles that block your way].”
~Proverbs 3:5-6  (AMP)

In Psalm 25, David rehearses and declares what he knows about the Lord… namely, that He can be fully TRUSTED.

Trust is defined here as having a bold confidence in, or placing complete hope in one.
David’s life had been anything but predictable.  Surely, he couldn’t even have imagined this path that he was on!  One day he was a shepherd, the next a king.  One day he was victorious, the next he was hiding in a cave.  One day the crowds were adoring him, the next he was running to escape death.
Through it all he was determined to TRUST the LORD.
David’s words are encouraging to me.  I can see my life similarly to David’s.  Not that I’ve ever been a shepherd or a king, but my life is one I couldn’t even have imagined.  It has been full of twists and turns.  Mountain tops and really low valleys.

I’m learning to do what David did.  I’m learning to TRUST.
God has a sure path for us to walk on.  He will be there to guide us along it.
So today, as we pray through Psalm 25, whether our trust is shaky or rock solid, let’s declare to the LORD like David did-

To You, O LORD,
I LIFT up my soul.

My HOPE is in you
All day long.

I will TRUST you !

SHOW me your ways.
TEACH me your paths.
GUIDE me in Truth.

YOU are my SAVIOR.

REMEMBER
your great
LOVE  &  MERCY
and not my
sin and rebellion.

REMEMBER me
according to your
LOVE.

LORD you are GOOD !

You will GUIDE me
in Your way.
When I sin,
TEACH me in your
LOVINGKINDNESS.

I will HUMBLE myself
and though my failures
are many,
FORGIVE ME !

You have CHOSEN a way for me !

Make your
COVENANT known to me.
CONFIDE in me with
intimate COMMUNION.

TURN your face towards me
and be
GRACIOUS !
My eyes are ever on
you, LORD.

When I am LONELY
and the
TROUBLES
of my heart have
MULTIPLIED,

FREE ME !

LOOK upon me,
Have MERCY,
and
RESCUE me !

I will take REFUGE
in you.
My HOPE
is in you.

No one whose
HOPE
is in you
will EVER be put to shame !
