Psalm 32 – Daily Bread From the Psalms
Daily Bread: Thoughts & Prayers from the Psalms
~ Psalm 32 ~
Today we will begin with the end.
Psalm 32 finishes with these words…
“Rejoice in the LORD and be glad, you righteous; Sing, all you who are upright in heart!”
I have to say that by the time you read Psalm 32, you will be REJOICING and SINGING, and your heart will absolutely be GLAD!
WHY ?
This Psalm is packed with GOOD NEWS!
Do you want to be happy? I mean deeply, now and eternally happy?
Within the first three verses, David tells us how we can be blessed. He also goes on to warn us what he has learned NOT to do! Some of us always seem to have to learn the hard way.
So how DO we get this overflowing happy “blessing” ? By having our sins forgiven!
It’s that simple… or is it?
I have to say, I know my sins have been forgiven a long time ago, but I am not always feeling that heap of happy all the time. Here is where David’s sage (and hard earned) advice comes in…
DO NOT KEEP SILENT WITH THE LORD!
Sound familiar? We talked about it a few days ago in the devotional for Psalm 30 . Remember the difference between keeping a quiet heart, and keeping a silent heart? David reminds us again here of the folly of not communicating openly and honestly with the LORD. “When I kept SILENT my bones wasted away through my groaning all day long. For day and night your had was heavy upon me; my strength was sapped as in the heat of summer.” I’ve been there and tried that. Groaning all day long and feeling exhausted. I’ll give you a tip- it doesn’t help a single bit.
So what can we do?!?
Just acknowledge our sin to Him! TALK to Him!
That’s it! And really, how silly of us. It’s not like He doesn’t already know what we are thinking or doing already! And He promises to hear us and forgive us and not only that, He will show us the way to go, and SURROUND us with songs of deliverance. Selah !!!
Don’t be silent with the Lord today!
Let’s confess our failures, faults, and flops and then BE GLAD!
Jesus, we’ve done it again.
We’ve fallen short,
we’ve missed the mark,
and we’ve just plainly gone astray.
But we won’t be silent!
We call out to you…
FORGIVE us!
Cover our sins!
Give us clean hearts!
And we will sing this Psalm with David…
BLESSED are we !
Our sins are
FORGIVEN !
WHY
do we go about
heavy hearted and weak
silent in our guilt ?
LET US ALL
come to you
and
confess our faults !
For You alone Lord
FORGIVE our guilt
PROTECT us from trouble
SURROUND us with songs of deliverance
TEACH us the way we should go
and
WATCH over us.
YES!
The LORD’s UNFAILING love
surrounds
those who TRUST in Him.
REJOICE and SING
all who are upright in heart !
BE GLAD
because of what
the LORD has done !
~Read or Listen to Psalm 32.
A beautiful testimony of the love of a father.
I thought this song and Mr. Bell’s words fit perfectly with our prayer from Psalm 32 today.
