~ Psalm 27 ~

Why are things so much scarier in the dark?
A few nights ago I was up in the middle of the night feeding my newest, precious grandbaby.  All of a sudden there was a terrible crash.  My husband (who usually sleeps through EVERYTHING), came bolting out of the bedroom to make sure we were alright.  He looked outside, in the garage, and even in our closets trying to figure out what had happened.  He didn’t find a thing.  It was a mystery, and though we were all fine, it felt really unsettling.  If this had happened in the day time, I don’t think it would’ve felt the same way.  Why?  Things are so much scarier in the DARK!!

David knows this, and beginsPsalm 27 with these beautiful words…
“The Lord is my LIGHT and my salvation…”

Throughout this Psalm, David remembers that in the LORD’s presence there is NO FEAR!
It doesn’t mean the absence of enemies, or dark times, but it does mean that as we gaze upon His face, darkness and all it’s terrors have no power over us.  When we realize that all we have to do when we find ourselves terrified in the darkness, is to seek HIS FACE and stand in His light, our faith is multiplied a million times over!  Perfect Love casts out all fear.

So we can all SING to the LORD along with David-

LORD,
You ARE
our LIGHT
our SALVATION
our STRONGHOLD

What is there to fear ?
Our CONFIDENCE is in you !

We ask you to
OPEN our eyes
that we may see
you in all your
BEAUTY
and
contemplate all your
LOVELINESS !

KEEP us
close to you
every day 
LIVING
in the nearness
of your PRESENCE.

In your arms
we find
SAFETY & SHELTER.

HEAR our voices
and be
MERCIFUL
HEAR our hearts
and
RECEIVE us.

Though those we love deepest
may REJECT us,
YOU WILL NOT !

We will continue to
SEEK your face.
We will SING
and MAKE music
to you !

We can be
FULLY CONFIDENT
We WILL see your
GOODNESS
in the land of the
LIVING !!!

So
We will WAIT for you.
We will be STRONG
and take heart.

For you are our
STRENGTH & SALVATION
The LIGHT of our LIFE !
