Psalm 107 Daily Bread
“Let the one who is wise heed these things and ponder the loving deeds of the Lord.”
~Psalm 107:43
Just a few thoughts I had this morning… I hope this encourages someone else as much as the Lord has encouraged me!
There is SO much grace waiting for us that we leave “on the table”.
Our Father has the most beautiful table we can imagine (more than we can imagine actually!) set and waiting for us, and a seat there right beside His. His table isn’t just for special times like holidays and banquet feasts. It’s not just for Sunday dinners with family and friends, or even Saturday morning pancake breakfasts.
His table is set for any time, and all the time.
He is waiting for us to just come pull up a chair and sit down for a minute all during our day. He wants us to come sit with Him even if it’s just while we chug our cup of morning coffee, and eat a cold pop tart because we are rushing to get out the door on time.
He isn’t constrained by time. He isn’t ever rushed.
And if you’re not rushing today, maybe you are feeling depressed and defeated, and flipping through Facebook.
Even there you’ll find Him if you’re looking. Lay your phone down when you do, and pull out that chair he’s got for you, just for a minute or two.
Or maybe you’re a mom feeling exhausted and lonely from endless piles of folding, and feeding little tummies, and cleaning up messes… you’ll find Him there too.
He’ll speak to you from a mountain of laundry just as sure as He spoke to Moses from a burning bush.
He’ll call out to you from the shore after you’ve been up all night with a teething baby, “Come! Have breakfast!” just like He called to some of His other disciples.
HE WILL!
I know this, because I’m experiencing this today.
He isn’t constrained by time, and He isn’t constrained by ME!
I may be rushed and stressed, or heavy hearted and having a pity party, but none of this moves Him out of His place at the table… or me out of mine!
“Let the redeemed of the Lord tell their story—”
He’s been telling me some pretty great and amazing things this morning I’d never have thought of myself!
He’s been speaking things like peace, direction, life, hope, truth, assurance, and JOY into my heart.
I know He will do it for you, and He’ll do it faster than you can BLINK!
Finding the Father on Facebook, or while changing a diaper isn’t IRREVERENT… it’s REALITY!
His promise to never leave us or forsake us is TRUE!
And we don’t have to just wait for the “holy” moments at church on Sunday to be close to Him, or during our morning devotions, or at a prayer meeting with other believers.
Those are all great, but we leave so much on that abundant table that He has for us when we separate our days like that.
EVERY moment of our day is holy when we’ve consecrated it to Him! EVERY day is a feast day when we take a moment to pull out our chair and sit for a minute.
And when we do, we’ll find ourselves filled, and energized, and overflowing!
“Jesus said to them, “Come and have breakfast.” None of the disciples dared ask him, “Who are you?” They knew it was the Lord.”
~John 21:12
“For He satisfies the longing soul, and the hungry soul He fills with good things.”
~Psalm 107:9
